I didn’t take on the cropped pants-exposed ankle look soon enough and Lloydie has long moved on to other things. I know my timeline’s off but I still remember things being sobrang cheesy and now we’re going beyond and positively overloaded.
First Day of the Month Monday is a strange day to hold a promotional but we made it in good time to the Greenwich Pizza & Pasta “Share A Positively Overloaded Experience” event and launch of their new dessert pizza. The usual suspects were in attendance and then some. Waiters then came one after the other and all but draped us in a positive overload of positively overloaded food.
A thick-crust, four-flavor sampler first came on the block. Greenwich Pizza has definitely come a long way from when they first churned out. While the sauce remains leaning to the Pinoy sweet, the crust and overloaded cheese and toppings bring everything as a whole to a more universal palatability.
Greenwich Pearl Coolers were served to wash the pizza down. I loved the strong espresso flavor of the Coffee Pearl Cooler but it was chased by a sweetness too intense for my taste. The Mango Pearl Cooler was more to my liking with a real mango puree flavor and texture to go with the gelatinous chewiness of the tapioca pearls.
A great personal revelation was Greenwich’s improved Lasagna Supreme. I have never liked fastfood pasta but this one was an eye-opener. I’ve had this a few months before to no fanfare in my mouth but I found myself issuing exclamations to The PussyKat after the first few bites of what was currently served. It had the rich tastes and textures of non-substituted home cooking and left absolutely no lingering value meal feel on top of looking restaurant-pretty.
“At P99 for a full size serving, you can regularly enjoy this pasta dish with all its rich meaty sauce and three kinds of cheese in between layer after layer of noodles, topped with that creamy white sauce. Delicious in every bite. Greenwich Lasagna Supreme…Masarap Maiba.” (official press release)
The PussyKat lit up at the sight of their Fried Chicken. A straight-up fried, this one had a light, crispy batter and light seasoning for full-on chicken flavor. While not holding any catchphrase distinction as that of its sister Bee’s, it’s one that holds up well against the rest of its lineup.
When the food finally stopped pouring and we neared the meals end, “Greenwich left no room for bitterness” and brought in the “all-new #ChocoBananaCrisp, a 9-inch dessert pie made with bananas, chocolate, and your favorite Italian hazelnut cream, Nutella.” What comes across a sugar-stewed banana mash is spread on a crispy thin-crust, drizzled with chocolate sauce and Nutella before a finish of milk chocolate shavings. “For P109 (dine-in), have a sweet ending to every meal.”
